Subcategories at a Glance

Conventional Lathes

The conventional lathe is based on purely manual control by the operator via handwheels and mechanical feeds. Compared to CNC technology, it lacks automated program sequences, making it particularly effective for single-part production, quick repairs, or simple re-turning of fits. It is the ideal tool for workshops and jig construction, as work can be done "by sight" directly on the workpiece without programming effort, offering maximum flexibility with low fixed costs.

CNC Lathes

In contrast to conventional or cycle-controlled lathes, the CNC lathe automates the entire machining process via freely programmable path controls. While conventional machines rely on manual handwheel operation and cycle lathes on predefined input masks, CNC technology enables the simultaneous movement of multiple axes for complex free-form surfaces.

Cycle-Controlled Lathes

The cycle-controlled lathe serves as the link between conventional and CNC technology. It avoids complex G-code programming and instead uses predefined "cycles" (e.g., thread cutting or stock removal), where the operator simply enters dimensions into a graphical mask. While the CNC machine is optimized for automated series production, the cycle lathe aims at the efficient production of single parts and small batches. It combines the tactile flexibility of handwheels for the initial approach with the digital precision of automatic sequences, making it the ideal choice for demanding toolmaking and prototyping.

Vertical Lathes (VTL)

The vertical lathe (Vertical Turret Lathe) rotates the workpiece around a vertical axis, so it sits like on a turntable. This design utilizes gravity for stable positioning, making it the first choice for extremely heavy, large-volume, or unstable components that would tend to sag horizontally. While horizontal machines excel with long shafts, the vertical design shines with significantly easier loading and higher rigidity when machining massive rings, housings, or flanges with large diameters.

Swiss-Type Lathes

The Swiss-type automatic lathe is characterized by a movable main spindle that pushes the material through a stationary guide bush. Unlike short-turn lathes, the cut takes place directly at the bush, which prevents deflection and enables extreme precision for very long, thin workpieces. This design is specialized for the fully automated mass production of small parts (e.g., medical technology or the watch industry), as it realizes complex complete machining in the smallest space without loss of stability.

CNC Turn-Mill Centers

The turn-mill center dissolves the boundary between processes by combining a full milling spindle and often a sub-spindle in one working area. Compared to standard CNC with driven tools, additional axes (such as the B-axis) enable highly complex five-axis simultaneous machining on all sides of a component. The goal is "complete machining": a workpiece is loaded as a blank and leaves the machine finished, which eliminates reclamping errors, massively reduces lead times, and allows for the precise production of highly integrated geometries without process interruption.

Cost-Effective Used Options – Ready for Immediate Use

Our used machines are an affordable alternative to new equipment: immediately available, ready for demonstration, and available with matching peripherals upon request. This reduces investment costs and shortens time-to-production.
